....just creeping in and saying hello......

Well its been a long time since I have written a blog post.

There have been lots of reasons behind this, firstly I was unsure if I wanted to continue with my blog after all the horrible carryon that was happening behind the scenes between other crafters etc. It really upset me, that the world I thought I knew and loved wasnt as lovely and friendly as I thought it was and really saddened me.

Another major reason was I had completely fell out of love with cardmaking. WHAT?? I hear you say....

Yes I hated it, I was struggling to find the get up and go and my mojo went walkabout. I thought if I took a break and a step down from my amazing design teams that it would give me time to rest, and hopefully come back and enjoy it again. 

Well it had always worked in the past, hadnt it?

Nope not this time, I wanted something completely different, I started to try different things, going back to knitting and sewing, discovered embroidery which I fell in love with. I concentrated more on my fb page and my instagram account. Joined twitter (still havent got a clue what Im doing!)

I actually then decided to sell all my stamps, papers, inks etc, in fact nearly all my cardmaking stash including my die cutters and tools. 

And I dont miss them at all, I worried I might look back and thought I had made a huge mistake but thats been over a year and I do not miss any of it. 

My little business page on fb is going from strength to strength, my esty shop has had a few sales and lots of customers favoriting my items. I have fallen in love with embroidery and sewing, working to define my style and creating new products.

In a nutshell I am happier, more relaxed and enjoying life once again. 

I am also starting to draw again, something I have missed doing for the last 20 years. 

I debated whether or not to close this blog and start again from scratch, to remove all the previous posts of my cards etc. But have decided against that, I think newer crafters out there can still get inspiration from my old cards and I know how much that helped me when I first started.

I will be taking this blog in a different direction now, with more of my other work, more posts about sewing, embroidery, family and life. 

I would be delighted if you stayed with me on this new journey but will understand completely if you decide its not for you.

Inspiration post for Saturated canary

Good morning, its my turn for a post over at Saturated Canary blog.

Its been a bit mental here and its only going to get busier! March is one crazy mad month for me, all starting with a special birthday on Saturday. I really do not feel like I am 40, in my head I am still that mad daft 21 year old! Lol

Anyway enough of birthdays etc, I have a card to share. I have used the beautiful Sara on my card. I have coloured her with copics and prisma pencils. The flowers are from The Ribbon Girl as are the ribbons. The lace is from ebay, I dont know where the papers are from as they were out of my scrap box. The bingo ticket, clock, ticket stub and clip are all Tim Holtz.

Before I leave, can I ask for some advice, does anyone know how to 'unfollow' a blog? Blogger seems to have changed its settings and the simple option is no longer there. I have several blogs that I wish to unfollow and I no longer wish to see them in my blog list.

Mixed media canvas

Morning lovelies, thought i would share a new hobby project that I have been working on lately

I have taken a like to making mixed media canvases, this is one I made for a recent customer, I am delighted at how it turned out.

I first primed the canvas with white gesso, and then added design papers using modge podge. I then built up the layers by using shimmer sprays and inks, followed by stencils with texture paste.

I then used the picture as the focal point, using flowers, lace, metal charms etc, again coated with gesso and shimmer sprays.

Back at Mo's

Good morning lovelies, well I am delighted to say I have had some good news lately from several sources and today I get to share the first of them.

I am back with Mo's challenge team, yaaay!

I have missed these ladies so much and am delighted to be back and welcomed back with open arms too.

Reader

Good Morning Lovelies, Its my turn to share an inspiration post with you today over at saturated Canary. 

I have used the gorgeous image 'Reader'

I have used MME papers from a pad that was out a few years ago, I dont have the cover so cant remember what it was called/

I have coloured my image with copics and use Wild orchid craft roses and flowers. The seam binding is from The ribbon Girl, the resin piece is by prima and the sentiment is from Whimsy.

Mixed media canvas

Morning, I cant believe its Monday again! Where does the weekend go?

Today I have my very first mixed media canvas to share today, I have been wanting to make one of these for ages and decided to make a start on one just over a week ago.

I had great fun getting all inky and messy and I am delighted with the outcome.

Charity images at saturated canary

Anything goes at MDUC

Hi lovelies, I am a bit late with this post but I am still having problems with blogger. I have tried all the hints and tips that everyone suggested but it still deletes my pictures and my posts, or it wont let me write a post. The only way I can post is by using the blogsy app on my ipad, but unfortunately I havent figured out how to link stuff yet so please bare with me.

Ok info session over, I have a magnolia card to share, shock horror!! Lol The wonderful team at MDUC have decided that this will be our last challenge for the year so I decided to join in.

I have used an older tilda stamp for this card, as I have a soft spot for so many of them.

Christmas angel

Hi again, Im back with my creation for todays inspiration post at saturated canary.

I have made another tutu wreath and used one of my favourite sc images, 'Christmas Angel'

I have used red and green tulle strips and made felt poinsettias from my Tim Holtz tattered poinsettia die. The Noel word has been cut from another Tim die and glittered

Hello :-)

Hiya lovelies, just thought I would pop in and see how everyone is? I have been a bad blogger of late but things havent been the best health wise and I am getting very busy with my facebook business page.

I am still making cards just not as often as I used to, I miss my design teams but the break is doing me good and I hope I will be able to return to them in the new year.

My shabby chic diaries are doing very well and I have been making lots of tutu wreaths for sale, here is one of them

What do you think? I love them they are so girly :-)

Here is an example of a shabby chic diary, each one is unique and the covers are removable meaning you can change the diary every year

Running very late with this, I apologise. I have had the flu, and its been dragging on for the last three weeks! I am finally starting to get back on track, thank goodness!

Flowers at Mo's

Morning, well its Thursday again and its time for a new challenge over at Mo's. but before I get on to the details I have some news to share.

I have decided with a very heavy heart to have a break from my challenge design teams. So this will be my last post for Mo's.

I have had a rough year to be honest with personal and medical problems and I need a break. I am also stepping back from MDUC. It has been a very hard decision to make but although I feel sad I also feel a sense of relief. I have also witnessed a side of the blogging world this year that has shocked and saddened me, with people I thought I knew and others I thought were friends, and I hope by taking time out I will come back afreshed and not let that side of things get to me. I have not set a time limit for this break, I will know if and when I am ready to come back.

I wont be vanishing completely as I will still be popping in to share my saturated canary inspiration posts with you and I may have other projects to share also.

Ok, back to Mo's, this week the theme will run for two weeks to give the dt a much needed rest, and the theme is 'Flowers'

My facebook shop

Morning lovelies, hope you are all well, my kids have been back a school just two weeks and thats all three of them ill already!!! Alex and Maya have fevers and have been up most of last night with stuffy noses, and generally feeling miserable. Meghan has a sore throat too. Hope this year isnt going to be a repeat of last year!

Anyways the reason for my post is to share a new make that I have been working on for sale on my page on facebook.

If you dont already know, I started my business page three months ago and I have been busy getting it up and running, and getting it noticed. I am selling my cards, but also other handmade items like collage pictures, cushions, bags and these new diaries,

 

I will be selling these on my page Craftykatdesigns very soon, I hope you like them xx
